Jason Pohl on bikes, BOXXs, and broccoli.
Orange County Choppers designs and creates custom motorbikes - as well as starring in the "American Choppers" TV series. The range of work it covers goes from simple logos on fuel tanks, to complete hogs based on the skull of a European Elk.
In order to visualize these breathtaking bikes, the company uses Autodesk Fusion 360, 3ds Max, V-Ray and Photoshop. A machine with as much grunt the company’s bikes is required for the quick, high-quality renders its customers need, which is where Boxx’s VFX-centric computers come in handy.
In this revealing interview, OCC’s senior designer Jason Pohl tells Boxx how its computers have sped up their automotive imagery workflow. He also discusses the pleasures of talking to broccoli, and highlights the importance of reading your computer a bedtime story. No, really.
Jason's also posted an awesome V-Ray rendered showreel to YouTube.
